Remansito

Remansito girlRemansito is a semi-rural shanty town on the fringe of Asuncion, Paraguay. SAMS Ireland has supported the work of one of the local Anglican churches in establishing a church plant in the area. For a number of years a team of volunteer youth workers have visited the community each Saturday for children’s clubs. The local church met in a small shed and had about 15 members.

Between 2001 and 2005 SAMS teams helped build a new church buildingRemansito church and now there is a thriving congregation of around 70 every Sunday. Regular medical clinics and community support is given through the church. The youth and children’s work continues to reach out and help this new church grow. In 2007 a soup kitchen ministry was started to give children a frequent healthy meal.
