To the SAMS Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we share that Hugo Gutierrez, a dedicated SAMS FUSION volunteer and our brother in Christ, is mourning the passing of his beloved mother, Maria. At the end of May, doctors confirmed that Maria’s breast cancer had returned and spread to her lungs. Throughout this difficult journey, Hugo bore witness to the faithfulness of God, reminding us, “God remains faithful, even in the midst of suffering because Christ is with us.”
Today, we grieve with Hugo and his family, yet not as those who have no hope. As Scripture reminds us, “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again” (1 Thessalonians 4:14). Because Christ has conquered sin and death, all who belong to Him have the promise of everlasting life. We pray that Hugo and his family will know the nearness of the Lord, who is “close to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18), and find strength, comfort, and peace in the unchanging promises of Christ.
