Psalm 56: 1-3

Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack. My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

Fear is something everyone experiences. Whether it’s worrying about fitting in, exams, family problems, or what the future holds, fear can feel overwhelming. David knew exactly what that was like. He wasn’t imagining his problems, people really were chasing him and trying to harm him. Yet in the middle of all that pressure, he says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Notice that David doesn’t say, “If I am afraid.” He says, “When.” Being a Christian doesn’t mean you’ll never be scared. It means you know where to take your fear. Instead of letting fear control him, David chose to trust God. Jesus understands our fears because He faced rejection, suffering, and even death for us. He knows what it’s like to feel pressure, and He promises never to leave those who belong to Him. That means you’re never facing life’s battles on your own. Whatever you’re worried about today, don’t carry it by yourself. Talk to God honestly. He already knows what you’re feeling, and He cares deeply about you.

Fear may still knock at your door, but it doesn’t have to be in charge. As you keep trusting Jesus, you’ll discover that His presence is stronger than your greatest fears, and His love gives you courage to keep going. SAMS Ireland.
