Psalm 66:1-3 Shout for joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious. Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.
Psalm 66 opens with a joyful summons to all the earth: lift your voice in praise because God has acted with unmatched power and unfailing love. The psalmist calls us to look back and remember the mighty works of God, for His faithfulness in the past gives confidence for the present. Again and again, God rescued His people, remained true to His covenant, and proved Himself worthy of their trust. These mighty acts find their fullest meaning in Jesus Christ. In His death and resurrection, God accomplished the greatest rescue the world has ever known, defeating sin and death and opening the way for all who believe to share in His new creation. The gospel is not merely something to admire but a reality that reshapes every part of life.
True worship, therefore, extends far beyond the songs we sing.
It’s expressed through grateful obedience, steadfast trust, and lives that reflect the goodness of our King. In a world that constantly competes for our attention and affection, Psalm 66 reminds us that God alone deserves our highest praise. Whatever our circumstances, we can rejoice because His character never changes. The God who was faithful to Israel has been faithful in Christ and will remain faithful to all who belong to Him. That certainty gives us every reason to worship with joyful confidence. SAMS Ireland.
