Psalm 67:1-2 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
Psalm 67 reminds us that God’s blessing is never an end in itself. From the very beginning, God’s purpose has been that His people would reflect His goodness so that the world might come to know Him. The prayer, “May God be gracious to us and bless us,” is immediately followed by the purpose: “that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.” God’s grace always carries a mission. Those who receive His mercy are called to make His character visible through their lives. This purpose finds its fullest expression in Jesus Christ. In His perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, God revealed His love and opened the way for people from every nation to be reconciled to Him. Through faith in Christ we are welcomed into God’s family, forgiven by grace alone, and given the privilege of participating in His work of making Himself known. The blessings God gives us each day; our abilities, friendships, opportunities, and resources are gifts to be stewarded rather than possessions to be guarded. They become opportunities to display Christ’s compassion, generosity, and truth. Our words, attitudes, and actions can quietly bear witness to the hope we have in Him. Take a moment to ask yourself: Does my life point others toward Jesus? As you experience God’s grace today, look for simple ways to reflect His love in your home, school, workplace, and community. When God’s light shines in us, it is meant to shine through us, so that others may discover the joy, peace, and eternal hope that are found in Christ alone.
